The Baltic resort Boltenhagen is located in the northwest of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania between the old hanseatic cities Lübeck and Wismar. Boltenhagen is the third oldest Baltic resort in Germany. The officially licensed Baltic resort consists of the quarters Redewisch, Tarnewitz and Wichmannsdorf.

The healthy climate, the clean and tidy beaches and the newly designed city centre provide a relaxing and diversified atmosphere. Many cafés, restaurants and beer gardens let you explore different kinds of food.

Especially recommended is a walk on the sea bridge that is 290 meters long.

In the west of the beach you can find an impressive steep coast, whose wild and romantic nature beach invites you to stay a little.

Directly behind the beach, between beautiful mansion-style holiday houses we find a wide belt of dunes, forest and grassland. Hikers and cyclist can relax and admire the beautiful spa garden with its peaceful atmosphere and the idyllic nature from two promenades.

On foot or by bike, a trip to the bay of Boltenhagen, the “Weiße Wiek” is always worth the effort.

In 2008, a hotel resort with a yacht harbor with 290 anchorages and a fishery harbor was built. Next to it is a great gastronomy with tasty food and a pretty deck from where you can easily watch the bustling activity at the harbor.

Boltenhagen’s surrounding area is always worth a side trip. We recommend a side trip to Klütz, a village 4km away from Boltenhagen, and a visit to the parish church St. Marien. The vernacular says that if you can still see the top of this church, you’re still in the “Klützer Winkel”.

A must-see is the castle Bothmer, domicile of the count of Bothmer. The castle was constructed in 1726, modeled on the English castles. This unique baroque castle complex on 11,7 ha became the emblem of the city of Klütz. The palace garden and the unique 250-years old “Festonallee”, made out of linden trees that were planted in a espalier give the annual musical summer in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania an unforgettable and admirable frame.
